ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Midsummer Prog Festival is an exclusive music festival experience not to be missed. Midsummer gives you the opportunity to see some of the world’s finest progressive rock bands take to the stage at the beautiful open air amphitheatre in Valkenburg, The Netherlands.
Headlining the festival is none other than Anathema, hailing from Liverpool, UK. Formed in the mid 90’s, they have risen to become one of the UK’s most cherished and critically acclaimed rock bands. Anathema have spent the vast majority of their career making music that defies description, and they will deliver a beautiful and powerful headline set at Midsummer.
Also appearing are Gazpacho, who completely defy genre classification – they were once described as being “classical post ambient nocturnal atmospheric neo-progressive folk world rock”. The band have been working on their follow up to the critically acclaimed album ‘Molok’ and we can’t wait for them to perform at Midsummer.
We are thrilled to have Pain of Salvation performing, known far and wide as one of the most vital bands in the resurgence of progressive music. Boasting incredible musicianship, a wide variety of influences, and a darkly poetic approach; Pain of Salvation has a reputation for being unpredictable, outside the box, and willing to experiment with styles.
We are also proud to welcome Iamthemorning, hailing from St. Petersburg in Russia. Featuring pianist Gleb Kolyadin and the charismatic vocals of Marjana Semkina, they have gone from strength to strength in recent years, winning the coveted “Album of the year” at the Progressive Music Awards in 2016 and performing headline shows with Tim Bowness.
Channeling the raw honesty of rock and the skill of progressive metal into a seamless voice at once energetic, grand and forthright, Caligula’s Horse offers devotees of all strains of powerful and progressive music something unique. We are very excited to welcome them to the stage at Midsummer Prog.
